Kayla Gonzalez
Kayla Gonzalez is a dynamic dancer, educator, and arts administrator with a passion for movement and the creative process. Originally from Henderson, Nevada, she now lives on the Upper West Side of New York City.
A 2022 graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Kayla earned her BFA in Dance Performance, graduating summa cum laude. During her time at Wayne State, she performed works by acclaimed choreographers including Twyla Tharp, Meg Paul, Bosmat Nosson, Dr. Biba Bell, and Stephanie Troyak. The program’s emphasis on creative exploration allowed her to contribute original choreography to department concerts and engage in diverse performance formats, from dance films to full-length productions. She also held key leadership roles such as Artistic Director, Outreach Committee Chair, and Rehearsal Director, igniting her passion for arts administration.
Kayla holds a STOTT Pilates Comprehensive Certification, awarded through a scholarship and mentorship with Hannah Andersen. She teaches Pilates across New York City, working with clients aged 14 to 92, and is dedicated to helping others connect more deeply with their bodies through movement. While Kayla starting teaching in 2019, her love for pilates started as young as 10 years old when she was diagnosed with scoliosis. Having the tools to navigate her body was empowering and she was hooked. Kayla aspires to inspire her students to feel embodied through a somatic, yet rigorous practice.
Her professional credits include performing with Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup at New York Fashion Week (2022) and presenting her own choreography in a 2024 festival curated by Nelson. Since 2021, she has served as Competition Administrator with Amplified Productions, touring nationally with Adrenaline and Revive Dance Conventions and overseeing all competition operations.
Kayla is known for her joy, discipline, and versatility—seamlessly navigating the worlds of performance, education, and administration. Whether on stage, in the studio, or behind the scenes, she is committed to sharing the transformative power of movement with others.
